Campground Open House – Free
First Sunday in June, annually
For one Sunday each summer, Winding Stair hosts a free open house at the Campground. The gates are open—bring a packed lunch, relax by the river, explore our camping and glamping sites, visit our flock of Icelandic sheep, and see our free-range turkeys, ducks, chickens, and guineas. Tour our working, water-powered Grist Mill.
Spring Farm Tour
Early May, Saturday (Check back in 2026!)
Held just after lambing season, this private tour invites you to explore the Mountain Livestock Farm with owners Greg and Stacy, as well as our Campground and Livestock managers. This is the original property where Winding Stair Farm began.
The tour includes:
- History of the area
- Viewing early native wildflowers
- Visiting our free range poultry (chickens, turkeys, ducks, guineas)
- Feeding our flock of Icelandic sheep (and holding a baby lamb)!
- See our water-powered Grist Mill in action
Fall Farm Tour
End of October (Check back in 2026!)
This is a private tour with the owners (Greg and Stacy) of our water-powered Grist Mill at the original Mountain Farm.
The tour includes:
- History of the area
- Seeing our free range poultry (chickens, turkeys, ducks, guineas)
- Feeding our flock of Icelandic sheep
- Full tour of all three levels of our working Grist Mill
- See the 14ft. diameter water wheel in action
- Watch live grain grinding: grits and cornmeal
